Mrs. Vonia Krug, age 83, 825 Liberty Street, a resident of Covington for 43 years and a former resident of Mellott, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday June 18 at Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been a patient 7 weeks and seriously ill for several months. Mrs. Krug was born July 18, 1881, near Mellott, the daughter of Simon and Susan Davis Shade. She married Arthur J. Krug in 1900 and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Covington Methodist Church, its WSCS and Win One Class, Order of Eastern Star, Home Demonstration Club and Troy-Wabash Republican Women's Club. Mrs. Krug is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lucille K. Mitchell of Lafayette; and two sisters, Mrs. Palmer C. Krug of Newtown and Mrs. H. Stuart French of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Susan Nell Seidle in 1961. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Covington Methodist Church where the body lay in state one hour. The Rev. Donald Ashley, pastor officiated. Burial with the Hegg Funeral Home in Charge was in Mt. Hope, Covington.
